American rapper Onika Maraj, better known as Nicki Minaj, has explained why she opted to collaborate with Nigerian singer Davido.
The American rapper featured the Afrobeat singer in her “If It’s Okay” track. The song is part of a special 10th-anniversary version of her legendary album, The Pink Print, which was first published in 2014.
A fan named Tae questioned why the rapper chose the vocalist for the song, pointing out how Davido destroyed it.
“What drew you to Davido for the song “If It’s Okay”? In my opinion, he was an ideal choice for this incredible masterpiece! He was speaking that ish”.
“That man is an incredible writer & melody maker. It’s always a pleasure working with him b/c of our mutual respect for one another. I asked him to be a part of it to bring out the Afro-beats tempo/feeling in it a bit more.
Naija to the world”.
