Renowned comedian Basketmouth recently discussed his foray into filmmaking in an interview with Saturday Beats.
He expressed his passion for this new creative pursuit, emphasizing its importance in his career.
Basketmouth clarified that his latest film was not driven by financial gains but rather a desire to create something original and meaningful. Despite facing financial challenges during the production of ‘Ghetto Love’, including a 20% increase in expenses, he remained committed to delivering high-quality work.
While he has more film projects in the pipeline, Basketmouth reassured his fans that his comedy career remains his main focus.
He said:
“In actual fact, it’s been a plan all along. I knew I was going to end up in the movies. So when I started comedy, I went to TV, and all along, I knew I was going to end up in movies. I enjoy making movies. So, transitioning was easy because it was already in the plan. I can make it because, by default, I’m already a storyteller based on the fact that I do comedy.
“I didn’t do this movie to make money but to create art and excellence. But if it does, by the grace of God, I’ll make the money back, and if it doesn’t, I’ll challenge myself with this project
“I’d rather challenge myself to create something exceptional.
“Next year, I’m going on tour. I have my UK and US tours, and I’m going to have my show here in Nigeria”.
