Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres commented on Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes’ celebration during the match between the two teams. The Gunners defender scored Arsenal’s third goal in their rout of the Portuguese club.
A strong thumping header from a corner kick found the back of the net, prompting the Brazilian to emulate Viktor Gyokeres’ disguised celebration. During the post-match press conference, the Swedish striker was asked how he felt about Arsenal’s number six and his celebration.
The 23-year-old claimed he had not seen Gabriel do it, but it is acceptable for him to steal it if he cannot produce it himself. Furthermore, the On Fire sticker stated that it is entertaining, which Gabriel enjoys.
“Gabriel’s celebration? He’s welcome to steal it if he can’t create his own celebration!.
I didn’t know he did that, but it’s fun he likes my celebration.”
The Gunners demolished the Portuguese side, which has been in scintillating form this season. Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring before Kai Havertz and Big Gabi gave Arsenal a comfortable 3-0 lead at half-time.
However, the hosts came back with purpose and grabbed a goal through Goncalo Inacio.
Mikel Arteta’s side, however, stepped up, and Bukayo Saka added a fourth from the penalty spot. This was after Diomande fouled Martin Odegaard. Leandro Trossard completed the scoring.
Sporting, who recently lost their head manager Ruben Amorim to Manchester United, hadn’t lost a single game this season. They also hadn’t lost a home game in a year until Arteta’s side put them to the sword.
