After more than two decades in the profession, Kgomotso Christopher is reprising his legendary role of Kea Moroka in Generations: The Legacy.

The versatile actress expressed her enthusiasm at reprising her part in the famous SABC1 soapie and at reconnecting with her coworkers in an interview with DRUM.

“I’m excited to be back and to see my colleagues. I took a break from the character earlier this year, and I’m glad to be back. I rejoin the Moroka family. It’s really exciting to be back,” she said.

Known for her ability to take on diverse roles, from comedy to film, Kgomotso is grateful for the range of opportunities she’s had in her career. “I’m very blessed to be adaptable as an actress, and I think that’s what makes me different. I’m able to do different roles, from comedy to movies.

I’m currently shooting something in Cape Town, and it’s lovely to see how versatile I can be,” she added. However, despite her impressive career, she also revealed the challenges of the industry, noting that work isn’t always guaranteed.

“To be honest, we don’t always get jobs no matter how big we are. I wasn’t working between 2022 and 2023, so it’s not like we always have work,” she explained.

Kgomotso also called for better industry regulation so actors can benefit from the work they put in. “We are waiting for the president to sign so that we can earn residuals for our work. Channels sell work and make money from it, but we don’t.

This is a fight we’ve been fighting for many years, so we hope Gayton Mackenzie will take this up,” she said.

In other news, Kgomotso recently celebrated a personal milestone, marking her 20th wedding anniversary with her husband, Calvin. She shared a heartfelt post on social media, captioning it, “A porcelain wedding anniversary … 20 years.”
