Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has cautioned Liverpool that their eight-point lead in the Premier League title race could swiftly evaporate.
Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, previously cautioned his players to not become complacent after their 3-2 victory over Southampton.
Arteta has now emphasized to Liverpool that maintaining a lead throughout a season does not guarantee success.
He pointed out Arsenal’s experience of being at the top for 248 days in the 2022/2023 season, only to ultimately lose out to Manchester City.
Arteta said: “We’ve been there and to sustain it for 10 months is extremely difficult – everything has to go your way.
“Just when you think you have it, plop! Everything collapses.
“Results can change through injuries, decisions and it can happen at any moment. You have to be ready for that but it’s something you can’t always control. All you can control is to do your very best.”
