A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos State has dismissed a fundamental rights litigation initiated by crossdresser Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, widely recognized as Bobrisky, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The crossdresser further petitioned the court to prohibit the EFCC and the National Assembly from subjecting him to harassment, detention, or the issuance of a wanted declaration.
Bobrisky has found himself at the center of controversy following the leak of an audio recording by social media influencer Martins Otse, which alleged that he had paid the EFCC N15 million to terminate money laundering accusations against him.
Justice Alexander Owoeye, while rendering the judgment in this matter, asserted that Bobrisky’s allegations of rights infringements were devoid of merit and lacked substantiation through credible evidence.
The spokesperson for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, communicated this information in a statement released on Friday.
“Having evaluated the evidence placed before this Court by the Applicant, it is evident that the Applicant has failed to provide credible evidence to justify the award of the declaratory and injunctive reliefs sought by him.
“I hold that the claims of violation of fundamental rights against the 1st and 2nd Respondents were not made out of the affidavit evidence placed before this Court.
“The Applicant’s claims against the 1st and 2nd Respondents lack merit and are accordingly dismissed,” the judge ruled.
