President Joe Biden’s administration is implementing measures to prolong protections for numerous immigrants whose temporary protected status is approaching expiration under the administration of President-elect Donald Trump.
The New York Times, referencing U.S. officials and documentation, reported on Friday that the recent actions taken by the Biden administration indicate an intention to complicate Trump’s efforts to execute his proposed extensive deportation initiatives.
This development follows Trump’s various appointments aimed at facilitating his plans to execute a large-scale deportation of undocumented immigrants from the United States.
In addition to designating Tom Homan as his “border czar,” Trump appointed two officials—Rodney S. Scott and Caleb Vitello—to lead his intended transformation of the U.S. immigration framework, emphasizing significant deportation measures.
DAILY POST reported that Trump pledged to implement the most extensive deportation operation in American history should he be re-elected for a second term.
Trump has also expressed criticism towards the Biden administration’s choice to permit the entry of thousands of individuals identified as radical Islamic terrorists into the United States.
Currently, TPS—a program that enables individuals from nations facing conflict or disasters to reside and work in the U.S.—supports approximately one million immigrants from 17 countries.
