You’re lucky I have a lot to lose – Burna Boy reacts to Speed Darlington’s release

Afrobeat artist Burna Boy has finally broken his silence on social media, hours after his critic and colleague Speed Darlington was released from custody.

Speed Darlington had been rearrested on November 27, just two months after his initial release, on defamation charges.

Burna Boy expressed his frustrations, questioning why his reactions always turn into major controversies while others’ comments go unnoticed. He warned his critics that they are fortunate he has too much to lose, as otherwise, they would not have a platform.

Burna Boy stated that he will not engage in lengthy discussions and will display no signs of weakness.

He wrote:

“When they talk nobody cares, but when I react it’s a Nuclear disaster.

Y’all don’t know how lucky you are that I have too much to lose now, Walahi a lot of you would not be here no more. Anyway make I just go buy another thing relax.”

“BUNDLE BY BUNDLE!

NO SIGN OF WEAKNESS!.”

Speed Darlington also known as Akpi, was earlier arrested on October 4, following the release of a contentious video in which he allegedly mocked his colleague, Burna Boy’s association with American rapper Diddy, who has faced legal issues with the FBI over charges of sexual exploitation.

The outspoken Nigerian singer was, however, released on bail on October 9 after spending five days in detention.
