Kendrick Lamar named Billboard’s ‘Greatest Pop Star’ of 2024

Billboard has named American rapper Kendrick Lamar as the ‘Greatest Pop Star’ of 2024.

Kendrick Lamar earned this title after a successful year on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, fueled by his hip-hop feud with Canadian rapper Drake.

During the feud, Kendrick Lamar released several hit songs, including the chart-topping single, ‘Not Like Us.’ This achievement marks Lamar as the first rapper to be named Billboard’s Greatest Pop Star since Drake in 2018.

In other Billboard news, Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ has now tied Lil Nas’s ‘Old Town Road’ and Shaboozey’s ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ as the longest-running number one songs in Billboard Hot 100 history, each spending 17 weeks at the top of the chart.

This historic feat means that the longest-running number one songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart are now all by Black lead artists.
