Jay-Z files motion to dismiss rape lawsuit

Jay-Z

Jay-Z has filed a motion seeking to dismiss the lawsuit brought against him by an individual who alleges that the rapper, in conjunction with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, sexually assaulted her when she was 13 years old in the year 2000.

Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, filed the motion on Wednesday. The request, as reported by Variety, asserts that there exist numerous inconsistencies within the woman’s narrative.

Carter’s legal representative, Alex Spiro, references the Jane Doe accuser’s interview with NBC News from December, during which she acknowledged making “some mistakes” in recounting her experience.

Jay-Z is additionally requesting that the court impose sanctions on prosecuting attorney Tony Buzbee for his failure to “properly vet the allegations” made by his client.

The motion to dismiss also includes a petition for the imposition of a financial sanction or fee award against Buzbee and the Buzbee Law Firm for “asserting facts without adequate investigation or for failing to retract those allegations once it became evident that they were false or highly improbable.”

In a statement shared to media outlets, Buzbee proclaimed that he and his team would respond to “the complete lack of merit in his filing with the Court, rather than through the press.”

Carter has been married to singer Beyoncé Knowles for 16 years. The couple is the proud parents of three children.
