Jude Bellingham Faces Potential 12-Match Ban After Red Card Incident

Jude Bellingham Faces Potential 12-Match Ban After Red Card Incident

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham could be sidelined for up to 12 matches following his controversial red card during Madrid’s 1-1 draw against Osasuna on Saturday.

🚨 What Happened?

  • Bellingham was sent off 39 minutes into the match for alleged foul and abusive language directed at referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero.
  • The referee claimed Bellingham said, “F*** you,” which the England international strongly denied.
  • Bellingham argued that he had actually said, “F*** off” out of frustration at himself, not at the official.

🗣️ Carlo Ancelotti’s Defense
Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti supported his player, stating:
“I think the referee did not understand Jude Bellingham’s English. He said ‘f*** off’, not ‘f*** you’… that’s way different.”

Possible Punishment: Up to 12 Matches Out

  • According to Spain’s FA disciplinary code, players guilty of insulting or offending match officials face a suspension of 4 to 12 matches.
  • If upheld, Bellingham could miss key fixtures, including La Liga matches against Girona, Betis, and Rayo Vallecano, as well as Madrid’s Copa del Rey semi-final first leg against Real Sociedad.
  • If the full 12-match ban is enforced, he would miss most of the remaining season.

Bellingham’s Response

  • Bellingham took to social media, apologizing for putting his teammates in a difficult situation but reiterated that there was a misunderstanding.
  • He told reporters:
“There was no insult. It was an expression to myself, not directed towards the referee. I hope the footage review will show that the report is incorrect.”

Will Madrid Appeal?

It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will appeal the decision in hopes of reducing or overturning the ban.
