Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District, disrupted the plenary session on Thursday regarding the alteration of her seating arrangement, which was executed without her explicit approval.
According to reports, the plenary session, overseen by the Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, was progressing when Chief Whip Senator Mohammed Ali Monguno interjected with a procedural point of order.
Monguno alerted the Senate President to the “improper seating position of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan,” thereby drawing attention to the matter.
Before Monguno could fully articulate his point of order, Natasha became embroiled in a vociferous dispute, necessitating intervention from the Sergeant-At-Arms who sought to escort her from the plenary.
In the midst of the ensuing turmoil, the Senate President’s efforts to restore order were ineffective, as the female legislator demanded to understand the “justification for the alteration of her seat without her consent.”
The disorder was ultimately mitigated following the cessation of the public address systems, leading to a restoration of normal proceedings thereafter.
