“Nobody boast anymore that they are in PDP” – Jandor

Jandor

Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost faith in itself due to ongoing internal crises.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the 2023 Lagos governorship candidate—who resigned from the party on Monday—cited the leadership crisis at the national level as a key reason for his departure.

Jandor pointed to the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, who has been heavily criticized for the party’s deepening woes following the removal of Iyorchia Ayu.

The crisis has worsened with a dispute over the National Secretary position, as Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Sunday Ude-Okoye both claim the role.

He also highlighted division within the Board of Trustees (BoT), National Working Committee (NWC), and National Executive Committee (NEC), with South-South PDP governors rejecting a Zonal Congress held without their approval on February 22.

Jandor described the situation as damaging to PDP’s public image, stating:

“Who goes around posting that they are a PDP member these days? The optics are bad, and even the party itself has given up.”

He added that the same individuals who worked against the party in the past now control it, making genuine reforms impossible.

Following his resignation, Jandor said he is yet to decide on his next political move but is open to exploring coalitions or another party, noting:

“There are 18 political parties in Nigeria, so there are 17 other options.”
