Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has raised an alarm, holding Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo, and former governor Yahaya Bello responsible should she or her supporters face any violence during her planned Sallah homecoming rally.
In a post on her official Facebook page, she stated:
“My dear people of Kogi Central, I look forward to our peaceful Sallah celebrations today. However, should we be met with or infiltrated by violence, Nigerians should hold Gov Ododo, Yahaya Bello & SP Godswill Akpabio wholly responsible.”
Rally Amidst Government Ban on Gatherings
Despite the Kogi State Government’s ban on public rallies, citing security threats, Akpoti-Uduaghan has insisted on proceeding with her visit to her constituency for Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
She urged her supporters to ignore cancellation rumors, emphasizing her duty as an elected representative.
The Kogi State Police Command also warned against the rally, stating hoodlums could hijack it, but videos circulating on social media show a large turnout of her supporters, mostly women, singing and drumming in anticipation of her return.
As tensions rise, political observers are watching closely to see if the event will proceed without incident.
