Comedian Alibaba Akpobome recalled a close call with the DSS when he almost got arrested at an event where he made former head of state Sani Abacha laugh.
He shared that during an event featuring a cultural dance troupe for the president, he noticed that Abacha was not wearing his dark glasses despite the darkness of the day.
Alibaba decided to address the issue by stopping the dance and pointing out to Abacha that the event was organized for him and questioning how he could see without his shades.
Surprisingly, Abacha took off his glasses at Alibaba’s prompting.
When Alibaba noticed the DSS agents moving towards the backstage, he cleverly decided to sit in front of Abacha instead of going to the backstage as expected.
“As soon as I made the announcement, I saw DSS boys going to the backstage. When I saw this I went to where Abacha was and sat down on the ground in front of him,” he said in part.
Abacha really was something.
