Snoop Dogg is poised to make a return to The Voice for its twenty-eighth season.
According to Deadline, the esteemed rapper is set to reclaim his position as a coach for the American talent competition in the upcoming fall season.
Snoop Dogg initially participated in the reality television singing competition during Season 26, alongside notable figures such as Michael Bublé, Gwen Stefani, and Reba McEntire.
In his inaugural year as a coach, he played a pivotal role in guiding Jeremy Beloate to the finale, where Beloate ultimately secured a fifth-place finish overall.
Subsequent to his first year as a coach on The Voice, Snoop Dogg opted to withdraw for the twenty-seventh season. The currently streaming edition of the show showcases John Legend, Michael Bublé, Kelsea Ballerini, and Adam Levine in coaching roles.
The Voice employs a rotational system for its coaches to maintain the dynamism of the reality television competition, which is hosted by Carson Daly and airs biannually. Snoop Dogg has been confirmed as the first coach for the upcoming twenty-eighth season, which is scheduled to broadcast this fall on NBC.
His reentry into The Voice is part of a larger announcement indicating that the rapper and his Death Row Pictures production company have entered into a multi-year agreement with NBCUniversal.
“Not everyone has the courage and vision to see what Death Row Pictures can bring to the table, but the NBCUniversal team have always understood, which is why I am proud to call NBCUniversal my new home,” the star said in a statement.
“The Dogg has officially moved into the neighbourhood, ya dig?”
