BREAKING: Osun Assembly endorses Gov Adeleke for second term

Adeleke

The Osun State House of Assembly has collectively passed a vote of confidence in Governor Ademola Adeleke, backing his bid for a second term ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The motion was introduced by Adewumi Adeyemi, who represents the Obokun State Constituency, and was supported by Taofiq Olayiwola of the Ede South State Constituency.

The endorsement took place during Tuesday’s plenary session, where all 26 lawmakers—including 25 from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one from the All Progressives Congress (APC)—voiced their strong support for Governor Adeleke.

During the session, Speaker Adewale Egbedun lauded the governor’s accomplishments, coinciding with his 65th birthday celebration.

He praised Governor Adeleke’s unwavering commitment to Osun State’s progress, noting his significant contributions through the execution of his five-point agenda.

The Speaker also noted that, as elected representatives, the Assembly members are proud of the governor’s leadership and encouraged him to aim for even greater achievements.

Inviting fellow lawmakers to share their views on the endorsement, Simeon Popoola of the Boripe-Boluwaduro State Constituency offered a sincere commendation, stating: “Politics aside, Mr Governor is a plain-minded personality, loving and genuine. These attributes have greatly assisted him in his performance.”

After the motion was presented, the Speaker conducted a vote, which was unanimously approved by the Assembly.
