Billie Eilish has addressed the circulation of “fake” images that falsely show her attending the 2025 Met Gala.
The Birds of a Feather singer did not attend the prestigious fashion event held earlier this month at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, as she was performing on tour in Europe at the time.
Nevertheless, several AI-generated pictures imagining what she might have worn to the Tailored for You-themed gala surfaced on social media.
On Wednesday night, Billie Eilish responded via Instagram Stories, calling out fans who had been fooled by the altered images and went on to criticize the “trash” outfit shown in them.
“Seeing people talk about what I wore to this year’s Met Gala ‘being trash.’ I wasn’t there!” she said while eating ice cream. “That’s AI. I had a show in Europe that night.”
She also pleaded with her followers for space, adding, “Let me be! I wasn’t even there!” The 23-year-old had performances scheduled at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome on May 4 and 5.
Billie Eilish is not the only celebrity forced to respond to fake Met Gala images.
Katy Perry also took to Instagram to clarify that photos claiming to show her at the event were entirely fabricated. She joked that this time, her mom wasn’t fooled as they were together during the event.
“Couldn’t make it to the MET, I’m on The Lifetimes Tour (see you in Houston tomorrow IRL),” she wrote, before adding, “P.s. this year I was actually with my mom so she’s safe from the bots but I’m praying for the rest of y’all.”
