Tension erupted in Ikire, a town within the Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, on Sunday after an attack on the convoy of renowned Fuji musician, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma.
The incident, which took place in the afternoon, involved suspected hoodlums who allegedly hurled stones and opened fire on the convoy, which included a black Hummer Jeep and a white Hilux truck.
According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the vehicles sustained noticeable damage.
It is still uncertain whether any member of Pasuma’s entourage was injured in the attack.
A video now circulating widely on social media captures the chaotic moment, with loud screams in the background and one voice exclaiming in Pidgin English, “Kasala don burst for Ikire. They don attack us. They carry gun shoot us but God dey.”
Attempts by journalists to contact the Fuji artist or his management team for a statement proved unsuccessful as of the time this report was filed.
Residents of the town expressed shock over the event, which disrupted normal activities and triggered temporary panic among bystanders and business owners.
Pasuma was said to be in Osun State for a performance, although specific details surrounding his visit have yet to be confirmed.
As of the time of reporting, the Osun State Police Command has not issued an official statement concerning the attack or whether any suspects have been apprehended.
