Amid the widespread backlash following Speed Darlington’s controversial revelation of an alleged sexual encounter with a minor, his former lawyer, Stan Alieke, has taken to social media with a cryptic message that appears to address the situation.
The artist recently drew severe criticism after a live video surfaced in which he recounted an intimate experience involving a 15-year-old girl.
Despite later claiming it was a publicity stunt and meant to be taken as a joke, the confession sparked calls for his arrest and investigations by authorities including the Lagos State DSVA and NAPTIP.
In the wake of the outrage, Stan Alieke, who previously represented Speed Darlington, shared a thought-provoking post on his Instagram page featuring two African proverbs.
He wrote:
“Those whom the gods wish to destroy they first make mad — African Proverb.
The fly that does not listen to advice will always follow the corpse to the grave — another African proverb.
Enough said.”
Though he did not mention names, the timing and tone of the post have led many to believe it was a direct response to the controversy surrounding the singer.
The cryptic remarks have further fueled public discourse, as observers interpret the post as a sign of disapproval from someone once close to the artist’s legal affairs.
