A well-known TikToker, Murja Kunya, has been sentenced to six months in prison by a Federal High Court in Kano for abusing Naira notes.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Kano successfully prosecuted Kunya before Justice Simone Amobeda for the offense of spraying Naira notes for entertainment while staying at Tahir Guest Palace in Kano.
Kunya had been arrested earlier for violating the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act which prohibits the abuse and mutilation of the Naira.
Despite being granted bail by the EFCC, Kunya tried to evade the legal process by absconding before her court appearance.
However, after weeks of investigation, EFCC operatives re-arrested her and brought her back to face trial.
She was subsequently arraigned on May 20, 2025, where she pleaded guilty to the amended one count charge.
