Drake has set a new milestone with the RIAA by becoming the artist with the most diamond-certified songs, following the sale of 10 million units of his 10th track, as reported by Chart Data.
The RIAA has officially recognized that both “Hold On, We’re Going Home” and “Best I Ever Had” have achieved diamond status, securing the record for him.
When the RIAA shared the news on Instagram, fans had mixed reactions. “You just simply can’t say anything bad about this lol. N****s staring greatness in the face,” one fan of the rapper wrote.
Another Kendrick Lamar fan replied: “We never said drake didnt have accolades. Thats where yall got this Kendrick drake thing mixed. We sayin he cant rap better then dot not that he cant sell no records that machine was going for along time and it’ll be on for along time.”
This achievement coincides with speculation surrounding Drake’s upcoming solo album. While live-streaming on Kick with Adin Ross—a moment highlighted by Rolling Stone—the Toronto rapper confirmed he’s currently working on a new project. “Thank you to everybody that’s streaming the album,” Drake said, referring to $ome $exy $ongs 4 U. He added: “Every time, every journey. Working on a new album, it’s a slap.”
Just last week, he posted a collection of photos on Instagram with the caption, “Iceman,” prompting fans to speculate that it might be connected to the title of his forthcoming project. This upcoming album would be his first full-length solo release since 2023’s For All the Dogs.
Meanwhile, Drake is collaborating with Kai Cenat on the music video for his track “SOMEBODY LOVES ME.” They’re currently accepting video submissions from fans, with 20 winners each receiving $15,000 for their creative input. As the music video takes shape, Drake also made an appearance at Cenat’s “Streamer University” event over the past weekend.
