Joshua Jackson has reportedly filed an emergency custody order modification against his ex-wife, Jodie Turner-Smith, amid a disagreement over their 5-year-old daughter Juno’s education.

According to a report published by E! News on Monday, June 2, Jackson filed the motion on Friday, May 30, claiming that Turner-Smith enrolled Juno in a new school without his consent.

He argues that this move violates their co-parenting agreement, which allegedly states that any school their daughter attends must be within a 45-minute commute from his home.

“Respondent respectfully requests orders ensuring that the minor child continues attending her present school for the next academic year 2025–2026, and for the parents’ joint consent to be required for any subsequent school change,” the filing reportedly states.

Disagreements Over Education Philosophy

Jackson’s motion highlights growing conflicts between the former couple over Juno’s education. Turner-Smith reportedly texted Jackson expressing that she believed their daughter’s academic journey did not need to be confined to a “fixed” learning location. She also showed openness to tutors and remote learning, suggesting flexibility over traditional schooling.

Additionally, Jackson raised concerns over Turner-Smith’s frequent work travel, especially her ongoing filming of a television series in London. He believes she may be trying to establish an itinerant lifestyle for Juno, allowing the child to travel with her rather than attend a consistent, structured school.

“Even in the best case, [tutoring] cannot begin to provide a child with the same nurturing and enrichment, peer relationships, and social skills that a classroom and school community environment provides,” Jackson reportedly stated, reflecting on his own experiences.

Concern for Daughter’s Stability

Jackson emphasized that Juno is flourishing in her current school and that maintaining continuity is crucial, especially after recent disruptions—including the loss of his home in the Los Angeles wildfires.

“…adding an unnecessary school change cannot be in her interests,” he reportedly added.

As of now, neither Turner-Smith nor Jackson has publicly commented on the ongoing legal matter.
