Keyshia Cole is putting past drama behind her and showing major love for Beyoncé, as revealed during her recent appearance on the Drink Champs podcast.
The R&B songstress, known for hits like Love and I Should Have Cheated, reflected on her admiration for Beyoncé despite previously drawing heat from the Beyhive for her criticism of the superstar’s 2013 Super Bowl performance.
“I Would Study Beyoncé” — Cole Opens Up
While promoting her The Way It Is: 20th Anniversary Tour, Cole sat down with hosts N.O.R.E and DJ EFN to discuss her music journey, romantic life, and time with late icon Tupac Shakur. But when asked whether she preferred Beyoncé or Alicia Keys, Keyshia didn’t hesitate:
“I would have to say Beyoncé.”
She went on to share how Tony! Toni! Toné! Legend D’Wayne Wiggins and his wife once told her stories about Beyoncé’s unwavering work ethic and laser focus from a young age.
“She didn’t date boys. She was focused,” Cole recalled. “If I wanted to make it in the business, I had to really study that. I would study Beyoncé for sure.”
Cole also revealed her deep connection to Beyoncé’s early work with Destiny’s Child, naming No, No, No as one of her all-time favorites.
New Music in the Works
The heartfelt tribute to Beyoncé comes on the heels of Cole’s Breakfast Club interview, where she confirmed she’s working on new music. If all goes as planned, fans may soon be getting her first album since 2017’s ‘11:11 Reset.’
