Middlesbrough has made the decision to part ways with manager Michael Carrick, who was the longest-serving manager in the Championship.
Despite signing a new three-year contract just last summer, his contract has been terminated due to his inability to lead the team into the play-off spots for the past two seasons.
Despite a revival under Carrick’s leadership, Middlesbrough struggled to challenge at the top of the table.
Following a review of the season by Chairman Steve Gibson and the board, his contract was terminated after the team finished in 10th place, four points away from a play-off position.
