Popular Nollywood actress Aisha Lawal has strongly denied allegations made by NURTW chieftain Abdul-Azeez Abiola, popularly known as Istijabah, who accused her of receiving a Toyota Venza as a gift from former Lagos NURTW chairman, MC Oluomo.
The claim was made in a viral video that has added tension to the ongoing internal crisis within the Lagos chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
In the clip, Istijabah alleged that MC Oluomo spent union resources on female Nollywood celebrities, pushing loyal members into debt and hardship to support his extravagant lifestyle.
“Aisha Lawal benefited from a Venza I worked hard to pay for, while MC Oluomo kept on pressuring us into debt to impress his Nollywood ladies,” he claimed in Yoruba.
He expressed regret for not retrieving the alleged car after seeing the actress display it online.
Aisha Lawal Reacts: “I Have Never Owned or Received a Venza”
In a video shared via her TikTok page, Aisha Lawal categorically denied the allegations, stating:
“I, Aisha Lawal Oldunni, have never ridden a Venza, never bought a Venza, and never received one from anyone—not even MC Oluomo.”
She further clarified that she initially ignored the rumor but decided to speak out due to its potential impact on her reputation, business partners, and family.
“If I don’t say anything, people will assume it is true.”
The actress, who is also a trained lawyer, emphasized that the allegation was baseless and defamatory, and she plans to take legal action against Istijabah.
“Venza Is Below My Standard”
Lawal went on to challenge anyone with proof to present it, insisting the Venza was never her car and not even up to her current taste in vehicles:
“Venza is even smaller than the kind of car I drive now. I don’t even like Venza.”
She also distanced herself from MC Oluomo, stating there is no close relationship between them.
“The person who made this allegation thinks I’m just an actress and there’s nothing I can do. But I’ll respond accordingly.”
As of the time of this report, MC Oluomo has not made any public comment on the matter.
