“Boys Bring Babies” – Nirvana Nokwe Embarks on Musical Journey with Upcoming Single ‘Mama’ Featuring Master KG

Nirvana Nokwe Embarks on Musical Journey with Upcoming Single 'Mama' Featuring Master KG

Multitalented creative Nirvana Nokwe is ready to make waves in the music industry after graduating from the Academy of Sound Engineering.

While she initially pursued studies in television and screen arts, her journey took an unexpected turn as she discovered a new passion for music through collaborations with sound engineering students.

“It was a beautiful intersection between my music and my filmmaking work. I was studying to be behind the camera but began forming strong relationships with people in the sound division. They invited me to be part of their projects, and I realised I didn’t exist in just one space,” Nirvana told TshisaLIVE.

Armed with fresh inspiration and her diploma, Nirvana is set to release a heartfelt new single titled “Mama”, featuring the talents of Master KG and Goon Flavour. The track will be part of their forthcoming EP and marks an important chapter in her blossoming music career.

“It’s been amazing collaborating with them. Mama is such a beautiful complement to this season of my life,” she said. “The song is so close to my heart, especially now, because books before boys — because boys bring babies.”

Nirvana shared that Mama serves as a personal tribute to her mother, who has been a steadfast source of support and wisdom throughout her life.

“This song is about me thanking uMama for always helping me stay focused and grounded — not giving my life, faith, or destiny away to boys just because I’ve graduated,” she explained. “My mother always reminds me to put myself first, to build my relationship with God, and to find purpose before love.”

While fans may know Nirvana for her work in film and television, she says she is now prioritising her “first love” — music.

“I’m really putting in a lot of effort into music this year. I want to focus on my own sound and projects,” she added.

Outside of music and film, Nirvana also shines as an entrepreneur. In 2024, she launched The Connect Supper Club, a space designed for meaningful conversations, networking, creative collaboration, and fine dining. She plans to expand the platform and work with more creatives to broaden its impact.
