IPOB Declares Nigeria Under Divine Judgment Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Detention

Biafra: Why Nnamdi Kanu cannot be released – Nigerian govt reveals

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has claimed that Nigeria is facing divine judgment for allegedly persecuting its detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who remains in custody on terrorism and incitement charges.

In a strongly worded statement issued by Emma Powerful, IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, the group accused the Nigerian government, Department of State Services (DSS), and sections of the local media of spreading “satanic propaganda” against Kanu, whom they described as a “prophet of God” sent to deliver Nigeria from destruction.

“A nation that rejects its redeemer must prepare to meet its ruin,” the statement read. “Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, a man sent by Divine Will to warn and save the indigenous peoples of Nigeria… was mocked, vilified, abducted, tortured, and detained. Now the land groans with blood and agony, and Nigeria must drink the bitter cup she has poured.”

IPOB drew attention to the growing violence in the Middle Belt, especially in Benue, Plateau, and Southern Kaduna, alleging that these regions are under siege by foreign-backed terrorists posing as herdsmen while the real defenders of the land are imprisoned.

The group insisted that Kanu only preached peaceful self-determination and called for a referendum, not violence, and accused the government of defying international law through his abduction.

They further declared that Nigeria would remain under divine punishment until an official public or private apology is tendered to Nnamdi Kanu:

“Until Nigerians… confess their betrayal and publicly apologise to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the siege will not be lifted. The God of Hosts will not relent.”

The statement sparked renewed debate on Kanu’s detention and the role of the Nigerian state in addressing both secessionist demands and the country’s worsening insecurity.

As of the time of filing this report, the Federal Government and the DSS have yet to respond to IPOB’s claims.
