Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has opened up about the real reasons behind her divorce from fellow actor Adeniyi Johnson, revealing that she was warned about the marriage from the start.
Speaking in a candid interview with media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Toyin said her family had reservations about the union and even sought divine guidance, but she chose to proceed with it nonetheless.
“They told me the marriage wouldn’t work, but I went ahead anyway. I didn’t listen to anyone,” she admitted.
Toyin explained that despite her parents’ prayers and efforts to avert a failed marriage, she found herself trapped in a situation that was not destined to last.
Reflecting on her current marriage to actor Kolawole Ajeyemi, the mother of two expressed deep satisfaction and gratitude. She described their relationship as being rooted in love, understanding, shared faith, and mutual support.
“In real life, he is very calm, a prayer warrior,” she said. “Whenever I go to Abeokuta, he’s always there. That’s how we started getting close.”
The actress also shared that her family once again prayed about the relationship with Ajeyemi, and this time, the divine confirmation came clearly.
“My family actually prayed about it and God revealed he was my husband. Now we have two kids—a boy and a girl.”
Toyin explained how the relationship blossomed from friendship into love, leading to a quiet introduction, a pregnancy, and eventually marriage.
“At first, I didn’t want anyone to know we were dating, but I started getting fond of him. Eventually, I introduced him to my family, and he did the same. The rest is history.”
Speaking affectionately about her husband, she said:
“I married one of the best. I won’t say the best, because I admire some other marriages, like that of my godmother, but my husband is truly one of the best.”
Toyin Abraham’s story has continued to inspire fans, especially as she openly embraces her journey of growth, healing, and second chances—both in life and love.
