Popular skit maker and singer Carter Efe has lost access to his Instagram account, which has over 1.8 million followers, shortly after publicly criticizing Afrobeats star Wizkid during a live session.
In the video that sparked widespread backlash, Carter Efe described WizKid as an “idiot boy” and accused him of being proud.
The remarks quickly triggered outrage among Wizkid FC, the fiercely loyal fan base of the Grammy-winning artist.
Shortly after the outburst, Carter Efe took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to lament the loss of his Instagram page, implying that WizKid’s fans had mass-reported the account.
“Fc una collect my Instagram account of 1.8Million followers 😭😭😭💔💔💔💔,” he wrote in distress.
In a follow-up post, the content creator expressed regret, saying his love for WizKid remained intact despite the backlash.
“I love him with everything I have in my immune systems ❤️🥺 But the fans are going wild for the first son💔 They betrayed me in the last minute. Still love you Dad❤️,” he added.
The development has sparked renewed online conversations about fan culture, cancel culture, and the influence of celebrity followings on social media platforms.
Carter Efe, best known for his viral hit “Machala” — a tribute to WizKid — had previously aligned himself as one of the star’s most devoted admirers.
However, his recent comments mark a significant shift in that dynamic, prompting speculation about what went wrong behind the scenes.
As of now, Carter Efe’s Instagram account remains inaccessible, and he has not provided further updates on efforts to recover it.
