A former Kebbi State governorship aspirant, Nataro, has advised Vice President Kashim Shettima to step down ahead of the 2027 elections voluntarily.
His comment follows recent tensions in Gombe State and wider speculation about internal dynamics in President Bola Tinubu’s inner circle.
Nataro suggested that if Shettima truly appreciates the opportunity given to him in 2022, he should now support Tinubu by allowing him to select a new running mate, possibly from the South. He believes this move would:
-
Reinforce the Renewed Hope Agenda
-
Improve Nigeria’s image abroad
-
Appease discontent among youth and within the APC
He recommended that Shettima write a public letter announcing his withdrawal from the 2027 ticket, while offering to serve as Tinubu’s campaign coordinator, thus maintaining relevance and honour.
Nataro recalled that Shettima’s 2022 nomination came as a surprise to many within the party and suggested that stepping down now could correct that and foster broader party unity.
