Temi Otedola Reflects on Gruelling ‘Ms Kanyin’ Shoot as Film Tops Prime Video Charts

Actress and fashion influencer Temi Otedola is celebrating a career milestone as her latest film, Ms Kanyin, clinches the number one spot on Prime Video Nigeria — but the journey to success wasn’t easy.

In a heartfelt Instagram post on Monday, Temi opened up about the physically and emotionally demanding experience of making the supernatural horror film, describing it as “the most testing shoot” of her career to date.

“We started this project two years ago during the summer of 2023 and had to do reshoots in April 2024. It was intense,” she revealed. “We made Adesoye College, Offa our home for several months. I became completely nocturnal from shooting most nights.”

Temi also shared that Ms Kanyin marks her first time performing physical stunts, an experience that left her with “a few bruises and huge mosquito bites,” but also immense pride in the final product.

“We poured so much love and effort into this movie. I’m so proud of what we created. NUMBER 1 ON PRIME VIDEO, LET’S GO!” she cheered, adding, “Keep watching and let me know — how do we feel about Amara?? I need to know!”

Temi stars as Amara, a rebellious boarding school student who unleashes a terrifying spirit after breaking a sacred rule. The supernatural horror is directed by Jerry Ossai and produced by Nemsia Studios.

The film also features a strong ensemble cast including Michelle Dede, Kanaga Jnr, Toluwani George, Natse Jemide, Kalu Ikeagwu, and Demola Adedoyin.

To give fans a deeper look into the project, Temi has released a behind-the-scenes documentary now available on her YouTube channel.

Adding to the celebration, her billionaire father Femi Otedola took to social media over the weekend to share his pride:

“So proud of my star @TemiOtedola. New movie ‘Ms Kanyin’ is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Papa is so proud of you! – F.Ote”

Ms Kanyin marks Temi’s third major film following her acclaimed debut in Citation (2020) — for which she won Best Actress at the Ghana Movie Awards — and her role in The Man for the Job (2022).
