Pop star Ava Max has officially cancelled her highly anticipated ‘Don’t Click Play’ Tour, which was set to span North America, the UK, and Europe later this year. The tour was scheduled to kick off in Los Angeles on September 3 and conclude in November after 15 shows across Europe, in support of her upcoming album Don’t Click Play (due August 22). But fans will now have to wait a bit longer.
Taking to her Instagram Story, the Sweet But Psycho singer opened up about the decision:
“Pushing back my tour is (the) most difficult decision I’ve had to make, but when I perform for you, it has to be of a standard that I’m happy with, and it’s just not there yet.”
Ava Max reassured fans that this isn’t a cancellation forever, just a delay to ensure a quality experience:
“Being on stage is my favourite thing in the world. In order to put on a show that you all deserve, I need more time. I promise you all it will be worth the wait. I love you all and can’t wait to see you. SOON, I PROMISE.”
Ava Max has previously spoken about how she thrives on tour. In a past appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, she shared:
“I do a lot of stuff but I always have Ava time carved out right before I perform… I really thrive through the chaos so I’m actually more comfortable on tour [than at home] but I still need my Ava time carved in.“
Though fans are understandably disappointed, many have praised her honesty and commitment to delivering a performance she’s proud of. For now, they’ll be marking their calendars for a new set of dates—still to be announced.
