French First Lady Brigitte Macron has once again made headlines for seemingly snubbing President Emmanuel Macron’s helping hand, this time during a high-profile arrival in the United Kingdom to meet Prince William and Princess Kate.
As the couple stepped off their jet on Tuesday, President Macron politely extended his hand to assist his wife down the aircraft stairs. However, Brigitte, dressed elegantly in an all-white ensemble, chose instead to grip the handrail, ignoring the gesture and walking past him.
The moment was captured on video and quickly went viral, especially given that it comes just weeks after Brigitte was seen shoving her husband aside during a visit to Vietnam, sparking discussions about the couple’s body language.
After the brief exchange on the tarmac, Macron greeted Princess Kate with an air kiss before he and Brigitte entered a waiting car. Brigitte, notably, appeared disengaged, looking at her phone and not speaking to her husband.
The repeated incidents have fueled social media speculation about tension between France’s first couple, with some interpreting Brigitte’s actions as cold or symbolic, while others dismiss them as insignificant.
