French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, are set to present photographic and scientific evidence in a US court to disprove allegations that Mrs Macron was born male.
The couple filed a defamation lawsuit against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has repeatedly promoted the false claim on social media. Owens’ lawyers have since filed a motion to dismiss the case.
Speaking on the BBC’s Fame Under Fire podcast, the Macrons’ lawyer, Tom Clare, said the allegations had been “incredibly upsetting” for Brigitte Macron and a “distraction” for the French president.
“When your family is under attack, it wears on you. And he’s not immune from that because he’s the president of a country,” Clare stated.
He revealed that expert testimony and scientific evidence would be presented to prove “both generically and specifically” that the allegations are false. While he did not specify the nature of the evidence, he confirmed that Brigitte was willing to provide personal proof, including photographs of her pregnancies and family life.
“It is incredibly upsetting to think that you have to go and subject yourself to this type of proof in such a public way,” Clare said. “But she’s willing to do it. She is firmly resolved to do what it takes to set the record straight.”
Owens, a former Daily Wire commentator with millions of online followers, has continued to push the claim despite widespread backlash.
