Veteran Nigerian musician Baba Fryo has stirred conversation with a bold claim about the intersection of fame and family life in the music industry.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the “Dem Go Dey Pose” crooner stated that many musicians are not truly enjoying their marriages, attributing it largely to a lack of understanding from their spouses regarding the demands of their profession.
“Most musicians don’t enjoy marriage, except they are lying,” Fryo said. “Their spouses don’t understand their profession. Go and verify what I am saying.”
The Ajegunle-born singer pointed out that while a few artists are able to balance marriage and music successfully, it often has more to do with the prior understanding and acceptance between them and their partners.
“Most musicians thrive better when they are unmarried. It’s just a few of them who are still thriving after marriage—maybe because their spouses already knew and accepted them for who they are.”
Touching on his own personal experiences, Baba Fryo revealed that he has learned to navigate the attention from women that comes with fame.
“I don’t take them too seriously because I know it was my fame that attracted them to me. I thank God that I’m able to manage women because it takes wisdom to handle women,” he added.
His candid remarks have sparked discussions among fans and fellow entertainers, with many agreeing that the pressures of fame, frequent travel, and public scrutiny can make it difficult for artists to maintain stable marriages.
