PDP Moves to Expel Wike Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has disclosed that it is actively considering expelling the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over a series of alleged anti-party actions.
This revelation was made by Ibrahim Abdullahi, the PDP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, during an interview on Arise News. He confirmed that the party has set up a committee to review petitions against Wike and other members accused of working against the party’s interests.
Abdullahi noted that a growing number of PDP stakeholders believe that the party would be better off without Wike, who previously served as Governor of Rivers State.
“To be honest with you, those who stand against the chances of the PDP or have been doing things that would not promote the interest of the party are not necessarily within the PDP,” Abdullahi said.
“Anyone who would clog the progress of the party is better off out of the PDP so that the PDP can hold itself together and bring back that democratic hope for Nigeria.”
He added that if Wike continues to act in ways that undermine the party, “he can also bid the PDP farewell.”
“Wike is said to be one of them, from the number of petitions we’ve received. Once the committee comes up with its decision… there’ll be no stopping us from doing so. We’ll get rid of them,” he asserted.
This development follows the recent resignation of Atiku Abubakar, a two-time presidential candidate of the PDP, adding to the internal turmoil facing the opposition party.
