Senator Ireti Kingibe Accuses FCT Minister Wike of Granting Illegal Land Waivers to Sons

EndBadGovernance: I didn’t sponsor Abuja protest – Kingibe hits back at Wike

Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the National Assembly, has accused FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of granting illegal fee waivers and engaging in unethical land allocation practices.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV on Friday, Senator Kingibe claimed she possesses documents showing that Wike allocated vast parcels of land to his sons and granted them questionable fee waivers worth hundreds of millions of naira.

According to her, the minister approved a reduction in statutory land title fees from N200 million to N2 million within just 48 hours.

“I have documents to show that Wike allocated land to his sons — huge tracts of land. Fine, as he says, though they are his sons, they’re entitled to land. No problem,” Kingibe said.

“But I also have bills that show you’re supposed to pay N200 million, N100 million here. Then they wrote to him for a waiver, and within 48 hours, it was reduced to N2 million. Of course, this is illegal. At the very least, it’s unfair. It’s unethical.”

She emphasized that she would be taking these documents to the National Assembly to press for accountability.

In addition to the waiver allegations, Kingibe also accused Wike of revoking land initially allocated for a government general hospital in the Bwari area. She alleged that the minister now plans to convert the site into a market or shopping mall.

Kingibe said the actions raise serious questions about governance, transparency, and priorities in the FCT’s urban development plans.

As of the time of this report, Minister Nyesom Wike has yet to respond publicly to the allegations.
