Dangote Group has confirmed that one of its trucks was involved in the accident that injured Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, in Auchi, Edo State.
The company issued a statement on Thursday via its X account amid public outrage and growing calls for justice.
Phyna had, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, taken to social media to demand justice for her sister, whose legs were amputated due to the severity of the crash. Nollywood stars, including Kate Henshaw, have also joined the campaign for justice.
In response, Dangote Group pledged to provide full support, including comprehensive medical care and appropriate compensation, in line with its welfare policy.
According to the statement, senior officials from Dangote Cement Plc, alongside the insurance team, visited the accident scene, engaged with law enforcement, and met with the victim and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo State.
“This action reflects our unwavering commitment to the well-being of those affected. We are ensuring full support for Mrs. Otabor, including comprehensive medical care and appropriate compensation, in line with Dangote Group’s welfare policy. Our thoughts remain with Mrs. Ruth Otabor and her loved ones, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery,” the company said.
