South African actress Ntando Duma, now officially Ntando Rambani after marrying singer and songwriter Unarine “Una Rams” Rambani, has bared her heart like never before. Speaking on the L-Tido Podcast, the Shaka iLembe star opened up about her intimate wedding, her second child, her painful childhood, and her growing entrepreneurial empire.
The actress revealed she and Una Rams tied the knot in June and recently welcomed their first child together — a baby girl. Sharing the story of how they met, Ntando described it as destiny:
“We met at a show in Venda on September 16 two years ago. He wasn’t even booked — just there with a friend. I was supposed to perform at 9pm, but the show got delayed until 3am. That’s when I met him. I loved his aura and humility. The consistency and respect were there from the beginning.”
Ntando revealed that Una Rams’ seriousness showed early on, as he asked her family for her hand in marriage just six months after they started dating.
Keeping Pregnancy Private
Reflecting on her journey to motherhood, Ntando explained why she kept her recent pregnancy private. Unlike her first pregnancy with daughter Sbahle, whom she shares with DJ Junior De Rocka, Ntando chose silence this time.
“The first one wasn’t private. I was young, I didn’t understand the importance of protecting that moment. Pregnancy is so sensitive — you need to keep it safe. We wanted those moments to be for us.”
She also dismissed rumours about surrogacy:
“Just because you didn’t see me pregnant doesn’t mean it’s not my child. People always have something to say. Those things are not even factual.”
Painful Childhood Memories
Ntando bravely recounted her difficult childhood and her estranged relationship with her late father.
“The last time I heard of my dad was when I was three. The memory I have of him is when he burnt us inside a shack while we were sleeping. He had a serious drinking problem — that’s the main reason I don’t drink alcohol. I grew up mostly with my grandmother and my mom. He passed away in 2008.”
She added that she is currently working on a book where she will share more of her life experiences.
Building an Empire
On the brighter side, Ntando continues to expand her entrepreneurial footprint. She owns a salon named after her daughter, Sbahle, and has big plans with her husband.
“Entrepreneurship is in my blood. I’m opening something soon with Una. We have a production company called NU Media — N for Ntando and U for Una. We’ll be producing films, stories, and my talk show. I still love acting, but I also want to direct. Most of my passions are behind the scenes.”
With her personal life flourishing and her career evolving into new ventures, Ntando Duma is proving that she’s not only a celebrated actress but also a woman building a lasting legacy.
