Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has told the club he wants to leave on loan before Monday’s transfer deadline, stressing that he is not seeking a permanent exit.
The 20-year-old is eager to secure regular playing time to continue his development and maintain his spot in England’s World Cup plans.
Mainoo has struggled for minutes this season, featuring only once in the Carabao Cup. Despite his request, United have rejected the idea of a loan, insisting he remains part of manager Rúben Amorim’s plans.
The England international, who impressed at Euro 2024, is under contract at Old Trafford until 2027.
Talks over a new deal are ongoing, but his push for game time has raised questions about his immediate future.
