Liverpool maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Arsenal at Anfield, courtesy of a stunning late free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai.
The clash was cagey from the outset, with Arsenal suffering an early blow as William Saliba limped off just four minutes in, adding to the absence of Bukayo Saka. Despite the setback, Mikel Arteta’s men defended resolutely and restricted Liverpool to few clear chances.
But with less than 10 minutes left on the clock, Szoboszlai stepped up from 32 yards to unleash a swerving strike from a dead ball that flew past David Raya, sending the Anfield crowd into raptures.
The moment proved decisive, handing Arne Slot’s side all three points while underlining Arsenal’s long-standing struggles at Anfield, where they are yet to win a league game under Arteta.
It was also the first goal Arsenal have conceded this season, a bitter pill after an otherwise disciplined display.
Liverpool now sit top of the Premier League table with nine points from three matches, keeping their 100% record intact.
