Legendary Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, has spoken candidly about his deep affection and respect for May Edochie, the estranged wife of his son, Yul.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the 77-year-old movie icon described May as more than just a daughter-in-law, stressing that his love for her stems from both family ties and her remarkable personality.
“May is not just a daughter-in-law. I don’t want to say I love May more than the other wives of my sons, but the love I have for May is so strong. Why? The father and I were very close.
May is a girl I love to the marrow. She’s a wonderful person and a very, very brilliant girl — a computer wizard. To a very large extent, the success of that home is to May’s credit.”
Edochie recalled the warm reception he received from May’s family during her traditional marriage rites, which strengthened his admiration for her.
He further revealed how touched he was by May’s heartfelt message to him on his 76th birthday, describing it as “so endearing.”
While acknowledging the challenges in her marriage with Yul, the veteran actor urged May not to be swayed by negative external advice.
“A lot of people have been advising her wrongly, trying to see if they can sunder the link between herself and her husband. Most of those women advising her don’t have good hopes.”
Pete’s remarks have since sparked online reactions, with many commending him for publicly recognizing May’s brilliance, resilience, and pivotal role in the Edochie family.
