Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, says his attention is firmly on Nigeria’s crucial World Cup qualifying clash with South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and not on speculation about his job security.
Chelle’s position has come under scrutiny, with reports suggesting that a defeat in Tuesday’s fixture could put his role at risk.
The three-time African champions head into the match with seven points from their last three qualifiers but remain six points adrift of group leaders South Africa in Group C.
Speaking at a press conference, the Malian tactician dismissed distractions about his future.
“This is like that. I’m only focused on this game. My only focus is about my players. If the end of the story comes, this is football, I’m prepared for that,” Chelle said.
Nigeria must secure maximum points in Bloemfontein to revive their hopes of topping the group and boosting their chances of qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
