A student at Texas State University has been expelled after a disturbing video surfaced online showing him mocking the recent assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a campus event.
The incident occurred on Monday at the school’s San Marcos campus, where members of Turning Point USA — the nonprofit founded by Kirk — were holding an outreach program. In the viral footage, the unidentified student was seen yelling profanities at the group before theatrically re-enacting Kirk being shot.
“Charlie Kirk got hit in the neck, bitch!” he shouted while slapping his neck and staggering as though struck by a bullet. He then climbed onto a statue, repeated the act, collapsed dramatically to the ground, and spat before walking away, adding a racial slur.
The video sparked outrage across social media and caught the attention of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who demanded the student’s immediate expulsion.
“Hey Texas State. This conduct is not accepted at our schools. Expel this student immediately. Mocking assassination must have consequences,” Abbott wrote on X.
Responding swiftly, TXST President Kelly Damphouse confirmed the university had taken action.
“The university has identified the student in the disturbing video from Monday’s event. I will not tolerate behavior that mocks, trivializes, or promotes violence on our campuses. It is antithetical to our TXST values,” Damphouse said in a statement late Tuesday.
“The individual is no longer a student at TXST,” the statement concluded.
