Anthony Joshua Eyes First-Ever Fight in Nigeria by 2026

Who you marry is in the top five most important decision in life – Anthony Joshua

Nigerian-British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua could soon step into the ring for the first time on African soil, as plans are underway to stage a historic fight in Nigeria.

According to promoter Ezekiel Adamu, discussions with Anthony Joshua’s camp have been highly encouraging, with the former world champion eager to fulfill his long-held dream of fighting in his home country.

“I spoke with him, I spoke with his team, and they already said to me, ‘If we had an offer from Nigeria, it’s a match made in heaven,’” Adamu told The Ring.

“Joshua has always said that before he ends his career, he wants to fight in Nigeria, and we are going to make that fight happen.”

Adamu revealed that the bout is being planned for early 2026 at the 50,000-capacity Abuja Stadium, with an all-African contest on the cards.

“For that, it would definitely be two Africans.

“So we are thinking Joshua against maybe Tony Yoka, there is Martin Bakole and Deontay Wilder, also of Nigerian descent, wants to do an African fight, too. There are different names,” he explained.

If finalized, the event would mark a historic moment for African boxing and a symbolic homecoming for Anthony Joshua, who has often spoken about his Nigerian roots.
