Gunmen have abducted Hon. Laven Jacob, the lawmaker representing Pankshin South Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly.
Jacob was reportedly kidnapped on Monday night at his residence in the Angwan Kaji area of Dong, Jos North Local Government Area.
How It Happened
According to two close associates — a former aide from Jacob’s time as Vice Chairman of Pankshin Local Government and a staff member of the State Assembly — the assailants ambushed the lawmaker at the entrance of his home as he returned, whisking him away to an unknown destination.
Police Confirm Abduction
The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the incident through its Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, who said the attack occurred at about 8:00 pm.
“The Command received a report on 22/09/2025, that one Hon. Danti Laven Jacob was intercepted by unknown hoodlums while driving into his house at about 08:00 pm and abducted to an unknown destination.
On receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Rantya Division and the Officer in Charge, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Jos, mobilised to the scene and are currently combing the bushes to rescue the victim,” Alabo stated.
He added that Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Adesina has ordered the Area Commander Bukuru to deploy all Divisional Police Officers, tactical, and patrol teams within the metropolis to join the rescue operation.

As of the time of filing this report, no contact has been made with Jacob’s family by the abductors.
