Brighton pulled off a stunning 3-1 comeback win over 10-man Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, with Danny Welbeck scoring twice in a dramatic turnaround.
Chelsea went ahead in the 24th minute when Enzo Fernández slotted home, but the match swung after Trevoh Chalobah was sent off early in the second half for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity. It was the Blues’ second straight Premier League game finishing a man short.
With the extra advantage, Brighton piled on the pressure and eventually broke through. Welbeck equalized in the 77th minute, before Maxim De Cuyper nodded in from close range to put the visitors ahead. Welbeck struck again late on to seal the points and silence the home crowd.
The defeat marks back-to-back league losses for Enzo Maresca’s side, following last weekend’s 2-1 setback at Old Trafford. Chelsea will aim to bounce back quickly when they host Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday.
