Singer Cassie has revealed she is “scared” of possible retaliation if her ex-partner, Sean “Diddy” Combs, is released at his sentencing on Friday.
Combs, convicted in July on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, faces sentencing in New York. He was, however, acquitted of the more severe charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.
In a victim impact statement submitted to Judge Arun Subramanian, Cassie urged the court to hand down a sentence that reflects both the evidence and her lived experience.
“I am so scared that if he walks free, his first actions will be swift retribution towards me and others who spoke up about his abuse at trial,” she wrote.
Cassie disclosed that she and her family have relocated from New York due to fears that Combs or his associates might target them. Despite her healing journey, she admitted she still lives in fear of his influence and anger.
The Me & U singer also rejected claims by Combs’ attorneys that the rapper has changed. She described him as “the manipulator, the aggressor, the abuser, the trafficker” and insisted he has “no interest in changing or becoming better.”
“He will always be the same cruel, power-hungry, manipulative man that he is. My experience was real, horrific, and deserves to be considered,” she added.
Cassie, real name Casandra Ventura, dated Combs on and off between 2007 and 2018. She is now married to actor/model Alex Fine, with whom she shares three children. She testified while eight months pregnant with their son.
