PDP will reclaim presidency, dominate 2027 elections – Makinde

APC slams Makinde over Oyo rising debt profile

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has expressed optimism that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not only retain control of the state beyond 2027 but also reclaim the Nigerian presidency in the next general elections.

Makinde gave the assurance on Sunday during the PDP State Congress held at the Basketball Arena of the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan. The gathering brought together ward and local government executives, ad-hoc delegates, and stakeholders from all 33 local government areas of the state.

Commending the peaceful and transparent conduct of the congresses across ward, council, and state levels, the governor noted that the unity displayed was proof of the PDP’s strength and preparedness for future electoral contests.

He urged the newly elected state executives to work tirelessly to secure victories for the party across all levels, from the grassroots to the presidency.

Makinde also reassured party members in Oyo who are yet to benefit directly from his administration that their loyalty and contributions would soon be rewarded.

“I congratulate all of us in advance because in this party, no effort will be wasted. We will all share in the fruits of our labour,” Makinde said.

The governor stressed that the congress was part of a deliberate strategy to consolidate PDP’s dominance, making clear that the executives now carry a mandate to deliver electoral success in 2027 “from the presidency down to the councillorship level.”
